On June 26th we are expecting
a flurry of activities as ALL
the Scandinavian cottages in historic
Balboa Park will participate
in this celebration, including the
houses of Denmark, Finland, Norway
and Sweden, and all San Diego's
Scandinavian organizations.
In 2004, we hosted Southern California
's largest midsummer event. San
Diego 's Balboa Park was the host
to all Swedish organizations in
the San Diego region. Last year's
midsummer event started at 8 A.M.
and didn't end till the last people
left at 10 P.M. It was quite a
success, with over 300 attendees and
this year, we are doubling its
size!
In 2005 we are also celebrating
a very special centennial. May
17 th 100 years ago, Norway celebrated
their first independence day from
Sweden . All year long we are celebrating
with Swedish & Norwegian events,
like a Norwegian folk art museum
exhibit, gala dinner, film festival
and more. Combining the centennial
with our Midsummer festival program
allows us to expose the program
to hundreds more all year long.
You should advertise in our program!
